Xavier Becerra’s troubling support for assisted suicide

Xavier Becerra’s troubling support for assisted suicide

by Administrator

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra is currently participating in confirmation hearings to join the Biden administration as secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Though Becerra has already come under heavy fire from pro-life groups for his attacks on pro-life journalists and pregnancy resource centers, another troubling issue has arisen: Becerra’s support for assisted suicide in California.

In 2015, California legalized assisted suicide, despite opposition from both religious and disability rights groups. Almost two years after it took effect, however, Superior Court Judge Daniel A. Ottolia overturned the law, pointing out the bill was shoved through a special session that was meant to be dedicated to Medicare funding.

Arizona Senate Passes Bill Banning Abortions on Babies With Down Syndrome

Arizona Senate Passes Bill Banning Abortions on Babies With Down Syndrome

The Arizona Senate gave initial approval Wednesday to a pro-life bill that would ban discriminatory abortions on unborn babies with genetic abnormalities such as Down syndrome.

The AP reports Senate Bill 1457, sponsored by state Sen. Nancy Barto, R-Phoenix, passed the first of two votes in the Republican-controlled Senate and likely will advance to the state House soon.

If enacted, the bill would make it a crime to abort an unborn baby because he or she was diagnosed with a genetic disorder. Exceptions would be allowed if the mother’s life is at risk. Arizona already prohibits discriminatory abortions because of an unborn baby’s race or sex.

Nat’l Pro-life Group Celebrates as SD Gov. Noem Signs Born-Alive Protections Into Law

“Under Governor Noem, South Dakota is a national leader in protecting innocent children – born and unborn. The overwhelming majority of Americans agree: babies who survive abortions deserve the same compassion and care as any other infant, regardless of the circumstances of their birth. Astoundingly, radical Democrats in some states and in Congress refuse to support legislation to protect these vulnerable little ones from being killed or left to die.

“We are proud of Governor Noem’s strong pro-life, pro-woman leadership – a model of what pro-life governors nationwide can accomplish. We thank her and all our pro-life allies in South Dakota, especially Reps.

3-Year-Old Boy Has “Died” Nine Times But Beats Doctors’ Expectations After Mom Rejected Abortion

Samson Farkas narrowly escaped death ten times already in his short life.

The 3-year-old from Far North Queensland, Australia has a rare condition called hypoplastic left heart syndrome, which means he basically only has half a heart, the Daily Mail reports.

His parents said he “clinically died” nine times and had to be revived, suffered a watershed stroke and underwent two open-heart surgeries.

But Samson keeps refusing to give up.

Bill to protect abortion survivors becomes law in South Dakota

UPDATE, 2/25/21: Governor Kristi Noem signed House Bill 1051 into law on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, stating, “The pro-life cause continues even after a child is born, and this bill will guarantee the right to life for every baby that is born alive.” The Christian Post reports that the South Dakota chapter of the ACLU objected to requiring protection for infants born alive because it would put “politicians between a person and their doctor.”

A press release from the Susan B. Anthony List stated in response, “Under Governor Noem, South Dakota is a national leader in protecting innocent children – born and unborn.

Illinois abortionist with unsafe history says state’s ‘dangerous’ parental notification law must end

by Administrator

Illinois is not known for its restrictive abortion laws. In fact, at the current time, Illinois retains only one meaningful legal restriction on abortion. That commonsense law, which requires parental notification (not consent) before a minor undergoes an abortion is still a bridge too far for one Illinois abortion provider. In an op-ed for the Chicago Sun-Times, abortion provider Dr. Allison Cowett calls Illinois’ Parental Notice of Abortion Act “dangerous,” and advocates for its repeal. But there are multiple reasons why Cowett’s claims should be heavily scrutinized.

A history of substandard care

While the Sun-Times describes Dr. Cowett as “medical director of Family Planning Associates Medical Group, one of the largest independent abortion facilities in the country,” the outlet fails to provide full disclosure about her background.

Pro-life Surge in the States: Montana Passes Four Landmark Pro-life Laws, Restricts Dangerous Chemical Abortion Drugs

“We are thrilled to see Montana enact strong laws to protect unborn children and their mothers,” said Sue Liebel, SBA List’s state policy director. “With pro-life Governor Greg Gianforte at the helm, our pro-life allies in the Montana Legislature worked swiftly to advance these pro-life protections, which reflect the will of the people. Montana is now the first state to place its own restrictions on dangerous chemical abortion pills – a vital safeguard to keep women informed about the risky business of chemical abortion, even if FDA safety standards on abortion pills should be removed, as has become increasingly likely under a Biden presidency.

Democrats Block Laws Stopping Infanticide Even Though Babies are Born Alive After Abortions

Democrats Block Laws Stopping Infanticide Even Though Babies are Born Alive After Abortions

Forty-eight Senate Democrats and independents recently filibustered the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, a bill that would legally require that babies who survive abortion be treated as any other infant of the same gestational maturity.

Reacting to the federal blockade, some red states are passing their own born-alive laws. South Dakota’s was just signed into law. Kentucky enacted such an anti-infanticide measure. These laws are needed because some such born babies are neglected to death or killed.

But how many babies survive being aborted? Forty-six in four states in just the last few years, it turns out — and this compilation is incomplete since many states don’t keep or report such statistics.

“We thank Senator Manchin for standing up to preserve the legislative filibuster, despite immense pressure from the pro-abortion radicals that run the Democratic Party. His strong stand on this issue is one the most consequential and courageous acts of his time in the U.S. Senate to protect West Virginia’s pro-life values,” said Musgrave. “Recent polling shows that West Virginia voters, like most Americans, reject the radical pro-abortion agenda of the Biden-Harris administration which includes expanding the Supreme Court, codifying Roe v. Wade, and forcing taxpayers to fund abortion at home and overseas. We stand with Senator Manchin as he sticks up for pro-life West Virginians in Washington and encourage him to stay strong.”

UN Report Pushes Sex on Kids, Criticizes Parents for Blocking Their Sexual Freedom

UN Report Pushes Sex on Kids, Criticizes Parents for Blocking Their Sexual Freedom

(C-Fam) A new UN report on children and privacy might shock parents if they ever knew about it. Produced by a “special rapporteur” and published by the UN Human Rights Council, the report probes the far-frontiers of sex.

The report asserts that “sexual expression” is part of the “interwoven fabric of children’s privacy.” The report defines children as anyone under the age of 18. Presumably, this includes children in swaddling clothes.

The report asserts that “adolescents need to be able to make decisions regarding their well-being and bodies, and to safely and privately explore their sexuality as they mature, whether offline or online.”

Sofia Viktoria Birina could possibly be Scotland’s youngest surviving premature baby after she was born at just 22 weeks on October 2. Doctors gave her only a 10% chance of surviving the birth, according to The Mirror, and even less of a chance of survival if she was born alive. However, the one-pound, one-ounce baby overcame the obstacles and is now home with her mother Egija and father Inars.

“Everything was fine at the twenty-week scan,” said Egija. “Then just over a week later, I felt pain so I went into hospital and was told that I was already dilated and had to go into labour.”

Two-year-old Lorenzo is a walking, talking modern-day miracle. The toddler’s mother, Heather Catanese, learned when she was 22 weeks pregnant with him that the blood in his heart was flowing the wrong way. Additional testing confirmed that this was due to a condition called hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS).

“Babies with this condition are born with half a heart,” explained Dr. James Strainic, director of the Fetal Heart Program at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital (UH) in Cleveland, Ohio, where the Cataneses were referred after the diagnosis. “As a result, the left chambers of the heart are too small to pump blood to the body.”

Seth and Kayla Fifer of Angola, Indiana, were excitedly preparing to welcome their baby girl into the world when they were hit with unimaginable news: their preborn daughter was diagnosed with three separate rare brain diseases and a kidney disorder. With the sobering news that their child likely has Dandy-Walker Syndrome, Polymicrogyria, and Schizencephaly came the realization that their little girl will likely experience seizures, have limited cognitive ability, and have disabilities that may prevent her from walking and talking on her own.

It is difficult for any parents to receive a diagnosis of disabilities for their baby, but in the face of it all, the Fifers have received generous assistance from their local community.

Statistics Show More Pregnant Women are Rejecting Abortion

Statistics Show More Pregnant Women are Rejecting Abortion

This past weekend, The Washington Post ran an editorial by Kate Cohen entitled “On TV, Abortion is the Road Less Traveled. Life’s Not Like That.”

Cohen bemoans the fact that fictional television and movie characters rarely resolve unintended pregnancies by obtaining abortions. Specifically, she cites “Knocked Up,” “Waitress,” “Juno,” “Friends,” “Modern Family,” “Girls,” “Glee,” “Gilmore Girls,” and “The Mindy Project” as examples of television shows and movies where characters carry unintended pregnancies to term. Cohen confidently states that carrying a pregnancy to term is “the choice that most women in that situation don’t make.”

While Cohen is correct in that 61 percent of unintended pregnancies end in abortion worldwide, the figure in the United States, where the shows she mentions are most commonly viewed, is quite different.

SBA List Blasts Deceptively Named “Equality Act”: A Trojan Horse to Expand Abortion on Demand

SBA List Blasts Deceptively Named “Equality Act”: A Trojan Horse to Expand Abortion on Demand

“The deceptively named ‘Equality Act’ is the latest push by House Democrats to expand taxpayer-funded abortion on demand, against the will of the people,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “This Trojan horse legislation makes a mockery of equality by enshrining a ‘right’ to abortion, the greatest violation of human rights today.

“Catering to the most extreme elements of the abortion lobby, the bill’s definition of sex discrimination equates abortion with pregnancy and childbirth. If Democrats succeed in rolling back even modest pro-life protections, health care workers and institutions will be forced to participate in abortions. We urge every member of Congress to reject this assault on the unborn and conscience rights.”

David Daleiden Appeals Ruling Forcing Him to Pay Planned Parenthood $16 Million for Exposing Baby Part Sales

The investigative journalists who exposed Planned Parenthood’s baby body parts trade are fighting back in court, appealing a $16 million verdict in favor of the abortion chain.

On Monday, the Center for Medical Progress announced its lawyers filed an appeal with the Ninth Circuit Court on behalf of David Daleiden and other CMP investigators, seeking to overturn the decision.

“Planned Parenthood got caught selling aborted baby body parts in the undercover videos, and their fetal trafficking programs have started to be held accountable,” Daleiden said. “Yet because of a biased federal judge, who previously helped run a Planned Parenthood clinic in the fetal trafficking network, Planned Parenthood has been allowed to sue me and CMP for successfully reporting the facts …”

Planned Parenthood, a billion-dollar abortion chain, won its lawsuit at a jury trial in 2019.

Pope Benedict Criticizes Joe Biden for Supporting Abortion: “He’s in Continuity With” Democrats

Retired Pope Benedict XVI brought up the conflict between President Joe Biden’s claims of faith and his support for radical pro-abortion policies in a new interview Monday.

Benedict, who is 93, retired as head of the Catholic Church in 2013. He recently spoke with the Italian news outlet Corriere della Sera about a number of issues, including Biden, according to Breitbart.

Biden describes himself as a devout Catholic, but he also supports radical pro-abortion and anti-religious freedom policies that contradict his faith. This has caused controversy among Catholics, especially Catholic leaders in America, about whether Biden should be allowed to receive communion if he remains unrepentant.

New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham Signs Bill Legalizing Killing Babies in Abortions Up to Birth

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham signed a radical pro-abortion bill into law Friday, one that will keep abortions up to birth legal for years to come and could cause doctors and nurses to flee the state.

Grisham, a pro-abortion Democrat, thanked lawmakers for sending her the bill, claiming it will promote “equality for all,” according to NM Political Report.

“Anyone who seeks to violate bodily integrity, or to criminalize womanhood, is in the business of dehumanization,” the governor said in a statement. “New Mexico is not in that business – not any more. Our state statutes now reflect this inviolable recognition of humanity and dignity.”

The Portuguese parliament passed a euthanasia bill on January 29, a bill that allows euthanasia for people who are not terminally ill but rather suffering from permanent injuries or a grave and incurable illness.

Article about the bill (Link).

Similar to Canada’s euthanasia law, the bill allows euthanasia based on subjective not objective considerations. Even if the “suffering” can be alleviated, euthanasia would be permitted based on whether or not the person considers the treatment acceptable.

The term suffering also includes psychiatric suffering, which means, euthanasia for psychiatric conditions would be permitted when the person asking to be killed considers the treatment options unacceptable.

Over 40 babies saved in first week of 40 Days for Life’s spring campaign in record 567 cities

The 40 Days for Life annual spring campaign got underway last week, with 567 cities participating worldwide. The campaign began on February 17, the day Christians observed as Ash Wednesday, and will end on March 28, Palm Sunday. The dates intentionally track with the Christian observance of Lent, praying and fasting for an end to abortion during the 40 days leading up to the yearly commemoration of Christ’s passion, death, and resurrection, which Campaign Director Steve Karlen discussed in a recent 40 Days for Life podcast episode.

Launched in 2007, 40 Days for Life is “an internationally coordinated 40-day campaign that aims to end abortion locally through prayer and fasting, community outreach, and a peaceful all-day vigil in front of abortion businesses.” In
