Washington Post: Women are leading the fight to end abortion

Washington Post: Women are leading the fight to end abortion

by Administrator

There’s an assumption by many people in the United States that abortion restrictions are being driven by men in order to control women and force them into pregnancy. This, however, is far from the truth, as was pointed out by the Washington Post in a recent article focused on the women who are fueling the pro-life movement.

“Republican women elected in the past 20 years are more conservative than their earlier counterparts; at times they’re even more conservative than Republican men,” reported the Post. “In Congress and in state legislatures, Republican women actively support abortion restrictions and are especially likely to introduce such bills when the ideological distance between Democratic and Republican women grows — a distance that has been growing as the parties, in general, grow more polarized.

Pro-lifer cleared of false stalking charges made by abortion worker

Pro-lifer cleared of false stalking charges made by abortion worker

by Administrator

Body camera footage recently saved a Missouri pro-lifer from going to court for alleged stalking after an abortion facility worker made false accusations about him.

John Ryan is no stranger to the pro-life movement, having pioneered sidewalk counseling activism in his home state as early as the 1970s. Usually, he stands peacefully outside the Hope Clinic for Women in Granite City, Illinois, a late-term abortion facility located just across the Illinois/Missouri border. Along with other members of the pro-life group, Defenders of the Unborn, Ryan prays and offers abortion-minded women resources about abortion alternatives.

In a statement emailed to Live Action News, Ryan’s attorney Brian Fellows of Thomas More Society, noted that on August 6, 2021, Ryan engaged a pregnant abortion worker in conversation as she walked into the building via a rear entry.

Three observations on the Justice Department’s lawsuit against the Texas Heartbeat Act

Three observations on the Justice Department’s lawsuit against the Texas Heartbeat Act

(National Review) Ed Whelan has some good initial thoughts on the very odd Justice Department lawsuit against the Texas abortion law, specifically the fact that the complaint does not identify an actual statutory or other cause of action and that DOJ’s parens patriae legal theory would appear to give the federal government standing to sue to strike down any state law that violates the Constitution, regardless of whether other actors in our system would have standing to sue. Let me add three preliminary observations of my own, specifically focusing on the portion of the complaint that asserts that the federal government has a right to sue because the Texas law interferes with federal programs.

Despite pro-abortion denial, medical doctors have known for decades that preborn babies can feel pain

In January of 1984 President Ronald Reagan gave a speech before the National Religious Broadcasters which addressed abortion and the ability of the preborn child to feel pain. He stated in part, “This nation cannot continue turning a blind eye and a deaf ear to the taking of some 4,000 unborn children’s lives every day. That’s one every twenty-one seconds… Abortion has denied them [unborn children] the most basic of human rights. We are all infinitely poorer for their loss.”

The president went on to state, “Medical science doctors confirm that when the lives of the unborn are snuffed out, they often feel pain, pain that is long and agonizing… How can we survive as a free nation when some decide that others are not fit to live and should be done away with.

Laura chose life after fatal fetal diagnosis: ‘She knew nothing but love’

In Focus on the Family’s See Life series, a woman named Laura told her story of choosing life after her daughter was diagnosed in the womb with a fatal brain disorder. A labor and delivery nurse, Laura and her husband were pregnant with their fourth child. She was excited to go in for her 20-week ultrasound but knew it was the one where potential problems with the baby could be discovered.

“I knew, because it’s my fourth time, that this sonographer was going slow and quiet,” she said. “And I remember thinking, ‘Oh, no, no. No. This is not going to be us.’”

America is More Pro-Abortion Than Every European Nation, This Has to End

America is More Pro-Abortion Than Every European Nation, This Has to End

The first inalienable right mentioned in the Declaration of Independence is the right to life. Yet America, which enshrines that right in our founding document, does a worse job of protecting unborn life than most other countries. The Supreme Court now has a chance to begin ending this injustice and ensuring that America lives up to its promise.

We’re both shocked at how far the U.S. falls short in protecting life. We’ve spent the better part of our careers striving to change that. One of us (Ambassador Haley) has also seen how life is devalued across the rest of the world.

Florida abortion facility that injured multiple women has shut its doors

Earlier this month, Florida abortionist Ali Azima’s Venice Woman’s Health Center permanently closed following a yearlong investigation led by the pro-life watchdog group, Reprotection, Inc. According to his website, the abortionist has retired.

Working in collaboration with the Thomas More Society, the group drew attention to the facility’s unscrupulous practices by filing multiple complaints with the Florida Department of Health’s Division of Medical Quality Assurance and Division of Health Quality Assurance.

One such complaint, filed in October last year, alleges that Azima and his staff initially refused to call an ambulance for a patient who experienced difficulty breathing after receiving anesthesia for a surgical abortion.

Today, Ohio Right to Life, along with Right to Life of Northeast Ohio and Citizens for a Pro-life Society, announced the discovery that the Planned Parenthood facility located in Bedford Heights, Ohio had improperly disposed of potentially confidential information and medical and hazardous waste in violation of the law.  Since this situation was first presented to Right to Life of Northeastern Ohio in June, these three organizations have collaborated in filing complaints regarding the apparent violations with numerous federal and state regulatory agencies.

“Abortion facilities are supposed to follow the same health and safety regulations as every other ambulatory surgical facility in the state.

Joe Biden Fires Father of Teen With Down Syndrome Because He’s Pro-Life

In a stunning move, President Joe Biden has fired the father of a teen with Down syndrome from a national disability council.

As Fox News reported, the decision has been heartbreaking for Kurt Kondrich’s 18-year-old daughter, Chloe.

President Donald Trump appointed Kurt to a two-year position with the Presidential Commission for Persons with Disabilities in 2020.

In an unprecedented action, President Biden has been terminating Trump-appointed Presidential advisory council members. He is violating a long tradition of permitting council appointees to complete their terms. The councils are non-partisan and play an advisory role.

Apple Will Pay Its Texas Employees to Kill Their Babies in Abortions in Other States

The technology company Apple told its Texas employees Friday that it will pay for them to abort their unborn babies in other states now that the heartbeat law is in effect.

ABC 7 News reports Apple CEO Tim Cook said the company’s medical insurance plan will cover out-of-state abortion costs for employees in Texas.

He made the statement during an employees-only meeting; The New York Times obtained a recording of the meeting and reported about it over the weekend. Tech Crunch and other news outlets confirmed the statement with Apple.

In recent weeks, a number of politically left companies have condemned the Texas pro-life law, which may save as many as 100 unborn babies from abortion every day.

Nine out of 17 abortion providers on staff with Whole Woman’s Health abortion chain in Texas quit when the Heartbeat Act went into effect on September 1, according to The Guardian.

As is common in many states, the “vast majority” of Whole Woman’s Health abortion providers were ‘circuit rider’ abortionists who did not reside in Texas, hailing instead from different parts of the country. For most of them, the stakes simply became too high to continue working in Texas.

Whole Woman’s Health’s CEO and founder, Amy Hagstrom Miller, lamented that “Just because we are complying with SB8 doesn’t stop extremists from saying that we are defying SB8.

The work of pro-life sidewalk counselors cannot be overstated. Their presence outside of abortion facilities, their prayers, and their hands-on approach to encountering abortion-minded mothers and putting them in touch with alternatives have changed many minds over the years and saved the lives of babies all over the world.

Here are just three stories that demonstrate how sidewalk counselors have made a difference in the lives of families.

New Hampshire Executive Council votes to strip public funding from abortion providers

by Administrator

New Hampshire’s Executive Council voted 4-1 last Wednesday to reject three contracts providing public funding to abortion providers across the state, citing concerns over compliance with a new state law requiring financial separation of abortion and family planning services at facilities that receive taxpayer dollars.

The three abortion providers that were denied the contracts include Planned Parenthood of Northern New England, Equality Health Center, and Lovering Health Center. In total, the contracts were valued at around $640,000. Funds were allocated to several reproductive health facilities that do not offer abortions.

The state law “prohibits the distribution of state funds awarded by the department of health and human services to a reproductive health care facility for provision of abortion services.”

Planned Parenthood CEO: Pro-Life Americans are “Cruel” Because They Oppose Abortion

by Administrator

MSNBC host Craig Melvin brought on Planned Parenthood president Alexis McGill Johnson on Tuesday to address a “Missouri’s restrictive abortion law.” He goaded her to “help folks understand” why anyone would oppose abortion. She made her usual argument that the “cruelty” by pro-lifers is “the point.” The people who prevent the killing of babies are the “cruel” ones.

Melvin said the Missouri law, passed in 2019, “bans abortions at or around the eighth week of pregnancy, it has no exception for rape, no exception for incest. It also, it also bans abortions based on Down Syndrome diagnosis.” In other words, no killing the babies with disabilities.

And Then There Were None, the only organization in the nation to actively assist people who work in the abortion industry to leave, to find new jobs, and to obtain healing from the horrific things they saw and participated in, held their first ever “Quitters Ball” in Dallas, Texas this past weekend honoring these former workers, affectionately called “quitters” by the ministry.

“Never before has this many former abortion workers been in the same room together and on the side of life,” said Abby Johnson. “Abortion workers are overlooked in the national conversation on abortion, yet they are just like us, people who went to work trying to support their families and wanting to help others.

‘A chilling silence’: The devastating effects of euthanasia and abortion on its practitioners

When people decide to go into the field of health care, it’s often with the goal of saving lives — not taking them. Yet sometimes, the job of saving lives is subverted, especially when abortion and euthanasia — acts of clear killing — are touted as health care. Some workers have said they thought they were going to be helping people, only to realize too late the tragic truth.

And while things like abortion and euthanasia affect women and the families left behind, the reality is that the act of killing affects health care providers, too.

Euthanasia causes “deep distress”

Across the globe, euthanasia has been rapidly growing in popularity.

The Louisville, Kentucky twins were born Sept. 1 after 32 weeks of pregnancy, and, last week, they grew well enough to leave the hospital, according to a Facebook page set up to share the twins’ journey.

WLKY reports Logan and Charla Cook, of Louisville, Kentucky, hoped and prayed for a miracle when they learned that they were expecting conjoined twins.

“I honestly pray for God just to perform some type of miracle,” Charla told the news outlet.

Abortion is Legal in Spain But Most Doctors Refuse to Kill Babies

When Mexico passed its law decriminalizing abortion,  it took the country by surprise. What also caught the secular press by surprise is that other nation  that as had legalized abortions were having difficult finding doctors willing to perform them.

Nicholas  Casey of the New York Times took the opportunity to see how widespread this pattern was. He began with Spain.

He focused on Dr. Mercedes Sobreviela, who said with respect to abortion, the “right decision” for a woman is “always the one she wants.”

“But as a physician in Spain, Sobreviela believes she has the right to choose as well, and she has chosen not to perform abortions,”he wrote.

Actress Uma Thurman Celebrates Killing Her Baby in an Abortion: “I Have No Regrets”

Actress Uma Thurman revealed for the first time Tuesday that she aborted her unborn baby when she was a young adult just beginning her career.

Though Thurman insisted that she has “no regrets,” her abortion story is full of pain and trauma. She admitted that, after more than three decades, it “saddens me even now.”

The 51-year-old actress (“Pulp Fiction,” “Les Misérables”) wrote about her abortion in an op-ed at the Washington Post. She also criticized the new Texas heartbeat law, which is saving as many as 100 babies and mothers from pain, regret and death every day.

“This law is yet another discriminatory tool against those who are economically disadvantaged, and often, indeed, against their partners,” Thurman wrote.

Pressured to abort due to a prenatal diagnosis, they refused and their daughter was born healthy

Focus on the Family has produced a pro-life program featuring interviews with individuals who have lived through the “hard cases” of abortion. These are the so-called “exceptions” to pro-life laws, such as babies with a poor prenatal diagnosis — cases in which even many people who consider themselves to be pro-life erroneously support abortion.

In August, a woman named Rachel Guy (whose story has been shared by Live Action News before) shared her story with Focus on the Family. Rachel’s parents were devout Christians, and they wanted a child very much but struggled for six years to conceive. When Rachel’s mother finally became pregnant, they were overjoyed.

“My life matters.”

That’s how Missourians with Down syndrome responded this week as a federal court considers whether states may protect unborn babies with disabilities from discrimination.

Several Missouri families shared their stories in a video produced by Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt’s Office as it defends a 2019 pro-life law at the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. Among other things, the law prohibits discriminatory abortions on unborn babies based on a Down syndrome diagnosis, their sex or race. Planned Parenthood is challenging the law.

One parent, Edward Lyons said the moment that they learned their son James had Down syndrome was one of the hardest of his life.

It’s really clear that some of the liberal hosts of The View don’t even listen to themselves when they talk. If they did, they’d realize how insane it is to suggest that they are “all pro-life.” On Tuesday, even the presence of Republican guest co-host Carly Fiorina and absence of Joy Behar could not curb the other co-hosts’ outlandish and false claims regarding abortion and the pro-life movement.

The deeply pro-abortion Whoopi Goldberg lectured Fiorina: “We’re all pro-life.” She then opened the segment by commenting on efforts by legislators in both Texas and Mississippi to limit abortions in their state:

Abortion Activist Threatens to Kill Pro-Life Lawmakers Who Voted for Texas Abortion Ban

An abortion activist has posted an online threat to kill the pro-life Texas lawmakers who voted for the state’s abortion ban. There have been a host of threats directed to pro-life elected officials, pro-life Texans and pro-life groups since the state’s abortion ban went into effect three weeks ago, including a bomb threat that brought out police to the headquarters of a local pro-life group.

Here’s more about the death threats:

Law enforcement on Tuesday evening alerted members of the Texas Legislature about “a credible threat” to their safety, citing that the concern was targeted at members who voted for the new six-week abortion ban passed by lawmakers earlier this year.

Florida Legislator Introduces Heartbeat Bill That Would Ban Abortions Just Like Texas

Florida Legislator Introduces Heartbeat Bill That Would Ban Abortions Just Like Texas

by Administrator

A Florida state lawmaker hopes to duplicate Texas’s life-saving efforts with a pro-life heartbeat bill in his state.

On Wednesday, state Rep. Webster Barnaby, R-Deltona, introduced the Florida Heartbeat Act to protect unborn babies from abortion, News 6 Orlando reports.

Similar to the Texas heartbeat law, Florida House Bill 167 would require abortionists to check for an unborn baby’s heartbeat before doing an abortion and prohibit the abortion if they detect a heartbeat. Typically an unborn baby’s heartbeat is detectable by about six weeks of pregnancy.

The bill also includes a provision unique to the Texas law that would allow private citizens to enforce it by suing abortionists who abort unborn babies with detectable heartbeats or fail to check for a heartbeat before doing the abortion.

Catholic Bishop Slams Pelosi’s Bill to Overturn Every Pro-Life Law Nationwide: “This is Child Sacrifice”

Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s archbishop chastised Catholic politicians Tuesday for supporting a radical pro-abortion bill that promotes “child sacrifice.”

Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco urged Catholics to pray and fast for the defeat of the deceptively named Women’s Health Protection Act, according to the Catholic News Agency.

“This proposed legislation is nothing short of child sacrifice,” Cordileone said in a statement. “[It] is surely the type of legislation one would expect from a devout Satanist, not a devout Catholic.”

Pelosi, a San Francisco Democrat who claims to be Catholic, is expected to bring the bill to the House floor for a vote later this week.
