Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen announced last week that she believes abortion is necessary for boosting the economy, particularly justifying it as a way for low-income Black women to be able to contribute to the workforce.
Her statement came during the Financial Stability Oversight Council’s report to the Senate Banking Committee. During the hearing, Sen. Robert Menendez of New Jersey asked Yellen what impact she believed the potential overturn of Roe v. Wade would have on the country.
“I believe that eliminating the right of women to make decisions about when and whether to have children would have very damaging effects on the economy and would set women back decades,” Yellen said.
A group of dozens of House Republicans led by New York Rep. Claudia Tenney are calling on the House Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government to rescind tens of millions of dollars in Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans to Planned Parenthood (PPFA), the Daily Caller has learned.
The Republican lawmakers allege that the Small Business Administration (SBA) violated the guidelines of President Joe Biden’s coronavirus relief package by granting $65,395,339 in PPP loans to 34 Planned Parenthood Federation of America affiliates in its Fiscal Year 2023 budget, according to a letter first obtained by the Daily Caller.

A British mother and her unborn baby are dead after she took supposedly “safe” abortion pills in the spring of 2020.
According to Lancashire Live, a coroner’s report determined that Sarah Dunn, 31, of England, would have lived had it not been for medical professionals’ “gross failures” to recognize symptoms of sepsis as a result of her abortion.
Louise Rae, assistant coroner for Blackpool & Fylde, said a general practitioner, pharmacist and hospital staff all failed to recognize Dunn’s condition and did not give her antibiotics until it was too late.
Dunn died from sepsis and toxic shock in April 2020 at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, according to the report.
An Arizona abortionist expressed fears that she will have to stop doing abortions soon if the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, saying her abortion work has made her a “better all-around doctor.”
Speaking with Business Insider, Becca Simon argued that killing unborn babies in abortions should be considered part of general health care and overturning Roe would hamper her ability to provide it.
“I want to help pregnant patients, and I want to help them if they choose not to be pregnant anymore,” she told the news outlet.
Despite her medical training, Simon, a family physician and abortionist in the Phoenix area, never acknowledged the existence of the unborn babies who she aborts.

Mothers desperate to find formula for their babies are turning to pro-life pregnancy resource centers across the country for help.
For many mothers, the staff and volunteers at these organizations have encouraged and supported them through some of their most difficult struggles in life. But now some pro-lifers are expressing frustration and heartbreak that they cannot find enough formula for mothers and babies in need.
“While some pregnancy centers with an excess supply have been able to give cans away to families in their communities, others … are either low or completely out of stock,” World magazine reported this week.

The news follows a new report the other day indicating the billion-dollar abortion chain plans to close five facilities in Vermont and New Hampshire on June 12, citing staffing problems and politics.
With the expectation that the Supreme Court will overturn Roe next month, the nation’s largest abortion company is reevaluating its abortion center locations in an effort to consolidate and save money as some states will protect babies from abortions.
Katie Rodihan, director of communications for Planned Parenthood Great Northwest, Hawai’i, Alaska, Indiana, Kentucky, made the announcement about the closings and indicated that the Planned Parenthood in Soldotna, Alaska will close along with four other center in Indiana and Idaho — though no locations were provided for those states.
A new Ohio bill would save nearly 21,000 unborn babies’ lives every year by banning abortions as soon as Roe v. Wade is overturned.
On Thursday, the state House Government Oversight Committee held its second hearing on the Human Life Protection Act (Senate Bill 123/House Bill 598), hearing from doctors, pastors, politicians, pro-life leaders, pregnancy resource center directors and others about the need to protect unborn babies.
“I’m thrilled to see this legislation gaining momentum,” said state Rep. Jean Schmidt, R-Loveland, the lead sponsor of the bill. “In Ohio alone, nearly 21,000 unborn children are unjustly killed every year.
Abortion has increasingly been promoted in African nations by Western countries and organizations, many of which claim it will solve any number of problems: poverty, child mortality, maternal mortality, and more. Yet abortion solves none of these problems — something that African nations like Ethiopia are finding out firsthand.
Michael Cook at Bioedge highlighted a recent study published in the Ethiopian Medical Journal by Calum Miller, an Oxford ethicist and doctor. “Abortion was legalised in Ethiopia in 2005 as a means of reducing maternal mortality from abortion as well as more generally,” Miller began. “Although abortion was not legalised on demand, it was legalised on broad socio-economic grounds: the Center for Reproductive Rights place it in the same category as the UK and Finland which, while not strictly allowing abortion on demand, do allow something close to that in practice.”
Dr. Ben Carson always has poignant thoughts about abortion and, in a recent interview, the retired brain surgeon made an interesting point about the inconsistency of the law when it comes to abortion.
The former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development noticed how many states have laws that bring up two charges of murder or homicide when a pregnant woman and her unborn baby are killed. Yet the law allows killing unborn babies in legal abortions.
“It would be nice to inject some logic into the whole abortion issue,” he said. “For instance, why is it that if someone murders of pregnant woman they get two counts of murder, but you can kill a baby and no problem?”
The Sanctuary City for the Unborn movement reached a major milestone Thursday when a Texas city voted to become the 50th to adopt a pro-life ordinance outlawing abortions.
Mark Lee Dickson, director of Right to Life of East Texas and founder of the Sanctuary Cities for the Unborn initiative, said the City Council of Normangee (population 778) approved the ordinance in a unanimous vote.
“The vote by the City Council was unanimous! Way to go Normangee, Texas!” Dickson wrote on Facebook after the vote.
Normangee is the 50th city in the United States and the 44th in Texas to pass a Sanctuary City for the Unborn ordinance, which bans the killing of unborn babies in abortions within city limits.
Catholic Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone said he formally notified U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi this week that she is not allowed to receive communion unless she repents of her abortion advocacy.
Cordileone, who serves Pelosi’s home district of San Francisco, said he informed the congresswoman of his decision Thursday after repeated attempts to speak with her about the “grave evil” that she is supporting.
Pelosi professes to be a devout Catholic but supports the killing of unborn babies in abortions up to birth and wants to force taxpayers to pay for their deaths.
In a letter published Friday on the archdiocese website, Cordileone explained his decision to deny communion to the Democrat leader:
“After numerous attempts to speak with her to help her understand the grave evil she is perpetrating, the scandal she is causing, and the danger to her own soul she is risking, I have determined that the point has come in which I must make a public declaration that she is not to be admitted to Holy Communion unless and until she publicly repudiate her support for abortion ‘rights’ and confess and receive absolution for her cooperation in this evil in the sacrament of Penance.”
Pro-life advocates all across the country are working hard to expand support for pregnant and parenting families in anticipation of Roe v. Wade being overturned this summer.
As many as 26 states are expected to ban abortions, and pro-life advocates know that more pregnant mothers will be looking for help.
A new report at the Christian Post highlights a number of ways pro-life organizations are preparing to provide that help once Roe is overturned, including working with churches, encouraging men to be responsible fathers and expanding adoption services.

A Michigan judge has blocked the state’s old abortion ban that pre-dates Roe v. Wade — making it so the state will no protect babies from abortion when the Supreme Court is expected to overturn Roe v. Wade next month.
Judge Elizabeth Gleicher, who has come under massive criticism because she is a Planned Parenthood supporter, issued the decision today blocking the 1931 state abortion ban.
“After 50 years of legal abortion in Michigan, there can be no doubt but that the right of personal autonomy and bodily integrity enjoyed by our citizens includes the right of a woman, in consultation with her physician, to terminate a pregnancy,” the judge said in her ruling.
Following the leaked draft decision from the Supreme Court suggesting Roe v. Wade could soon be overturned, pro-abortion activists have become increasingly aggressive as they protest.
In addition to demonstrating in front of the high court justices’ homes, some protesters have taken things a step further and begun to physically attack pro-life organizations at their places of operation.
Lois Anderson, executive director at Oregon Right to Life, and Penny Nance, CEO of Concerned Women for America, both experienced attacks on their organizations.
“We’ve always felt very safe there. It’s a community that’s just right next to our state Capitol, but we’ve been in that building for more than two decades and never even had so much as a protest,” said Anderson.
Planned Parenthood is floundering even in pro-abortion New England states.
WCAX 3 reports the billion-dollar abortion chain plans to close five facilities in Vermont and New Hampshire on June 12, citing staffing problems and politics.
The facilities are located in Hyde Park, Bennington, St. Albans and Middlebury, Vermont, and Claremont, New Hampshire, according to the report. It also closed another Vermont facility earlier this year.
“When we were looking at which health centers to expand and which would be closing, we looked at geography,” Planned Parenthood spokeswoman Nicole Clegg told the news outlet. “We looked at distance to make it somewhat manageable for folks.”
A California lawmaker claims women need abortion to control their family size because inflation and rising expenses have made it difficult for mothers to feed their families.
In a conversation with MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell, Representative Katie Porter explained that she thinks the Supreme Court’s probable overturn of Roe v. Wade will have “long-term economic consequences.” She said:
The fact that things like inflation can happen, and it can become more expensive to feed your kids and fuel your car is exactly why people need to be able to be in charge of how many mouths they’re going to have to feed.
A woman has been convicted after she pretended to be pregnant to obtain abortion pills, which were sent to her by the UK’s largest abortion provider BPAS after a phone consultation. She then handed the pills to her ‘lover’, who said he was planning to trick his girlfriend into taking them.
Georgia Day has been given a twelve-month suspended prison sentence after she was found guilty of conspiring to procure the physical means to induce an abortion [procure a miscarriage].
The 23-year-old had contacted BPAS and lied about being pregnant in a follow-up phone consultation in order to obtain pills used to procure an early-stage medical abortion.
