Florida House Committee Passes Bill to Ban Abortions on Babies With Down Syndrome

A bill in the Florida legislature would protect unborn babies with Down syndrome and other disabilities from eugenic, discriminatory abortions.

Pro-life state House Bill 1221 passed a House subcommittee on Thursday in an 11-7 vote.

If enacted, the legislation would prohibit abortionists from doing abortions if the reason is because an unborn baby has been diagnosed with a disability, such as Down syndrome. Exceptions would be allowed if the mother’s life is at risk.

“For those of you that feel as strongly as you do that abortion is health care, there are many of us that don’t feel that the killing of a child can ever be health care, and we feel just as strongly as you do in your beliefs,” said Rep.

Planned Parenthood Founder Margaret Sanger Was a Racist Who Wanted to Exterminate Black People

Planned Parenthood Founder Margaret Sanger Was a Racist Who Wanted to Exterminate Black People

This is Women’s History Month, held to celebrate “the contributions women have made to the United States and recognize the specific achievements women have made over the course of American history in a variety of fields.”

A month dedicated to the history of any group should not just be a sanitized feel-good propaganda version of what came before. Real history is complicated. Such campaigns should tell the full story of those who made a powerful impact on life today.

Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, is usually touted as a paragon of feminist valor, a woman of courage who fought off the forces of reaction in her decades-long birth control campaign that liberated women from the tyranny of biology.

Joe Biden Can’t Say He’s a “Devout” Catholic When He Makes Americans Fund Abortions Twice

Joe Biden Can’t Say He’s a “Devout” Catholic When He Makes Americans Fund Abortions Twice

Throughout the entirety of the presidential campaign, Joe Biden campaigned as some “devout” Catholic who would bring some sort of moderate political approach to the White House. But yesterday Biden signed a bill that, for the second time after his order reversing President Trumps Protect Life Rule, would make Americans fund abortions.

Leading pro-life groups castigated the bill as a slush fund for the abortion industry.

As President Biden signed the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (H.R. 1319), Family Research Council criticized the $1.9 trillion spending package. Without a single Republican vote, Democrats pushed through a bill that used the Covid-19 health crisis as a cover to promote policies harmful to human life and the family.

Joe Biden Signs COVID Bill With the Greatest Expansion of Abortion Funding in a Decade

Joe Biden Signs COVID Bill With the Greatest Expansion of Abortion Funding in a Decade

Joe Biden today signed the so-called COVID relief bill that is the greatest expansion of abortion in a decade. Although he claims to be a “devout Catholic,” Biden just signed a bill that forces Americans to fund abortions and the Planned Parenthood abortion business. It is the largest expansion of abortion funding since 2010, when Democrats passed Obamacare.

The COVID relief bill that spends all but 9% on COVID relief and will spend tens of millions, perhaps over $100 million on funding abortions and the Planned Parenthood abortion corporation.

In the Senate, Democrats defeated a pro-life amendment that would have stopped the COVID relief bill from using tens of millions and perhaps hundreds of millions of dollars to fund killing babies in abortions.

Biden Then: I Won’t Force You to Fund Abortions. Biden Now: I Will Force You to Fund Abortions

Biden Then: I Won’t Force You to Fund Abortions. Biden Now: I Will Force You to Fund Abortions

Back in 1994, a worried Delaware taxpayer sent a message to his senator. “Please don’t force me to pay for abortions against my conscience,” he said.

Joe Biden sent an unambiguous response.

“I will continue to abide by the same principle that has guided me throughout my 21 years in the Senate: those of us who are opposed to abortion should not be compelled to pay for them,” he wrote.

“As you may know,” Biden continued, “I have consistently—on no fewer than 50 occasions—voted against federal funding of abortions.”

“[T]he government,” Biden said, “should not tell those with strong convictions against abortion, such as you and I, that we must pay for them.”

Democrats Want to Force Americans to Pay for Killing Babies in Abortions in Other Countries

Democrats Want to Force Americans to Pay for Killing Babies in Abortions in Other Countries

Pro-life laws save lives, and legalizing abortion does not make anything “safer” for unborn babies or mothers.

But Democrat leaders, unsatisfied with pushing abortion on demand in the U.S. alone, are using claims about unsafe abortions to demand that Americans pay for the killing of unborn babies in abortions all across the globe.

On Tuesday, U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Illinois, introduced a bill to repeal the Helms Amendment and start using foreign assistance money to pay for abortions, according to Common Dreams.

“Unsafe abortion is a global health crisis,” Schakowsky wrote on Twitter. The Guttmacher Institute, a pro-abortion research group, “estimates the U.S.

Judge Rules Texas Can Defund Planned Parenthood Abortion Business

Judge Rules Texas Can Defund Planned Parenthood Abortion Business

A state judge has ruled Texas can defund the Planned Parenthood abortion business.

Siding with state officials, a judge in Travis County declined Planned Parenthood’s bid to block state officials from removing the abortion company from the state Medicaid program.

State District Judge Lora Livingston said Planned Parenthood did not prove its contention that state officials failed to provide proper notice in January when it gave Planned Parenthood until February 4th that it would no longer be included in the taxpayer-funded program.

“This decision is not made lightly. In the light of the ongoing public health crisis, the risks of the individual losing health care and medical attention requires increased attention and scrutiny,” Livingston wrote in an order denying Planned Parenthood’s requested injunction.

Miracle Premature Baby Born at 25 Weeks in a Car During a Snowstorm is Now Thriving

A baby who was born prematurely in a car during a dangerous snowstorm has beaten the odds and is now thriving.

Despite not being due to be born until May 2021, baby Amari from Texas was born extremely prematurely at just 25 weeks old.

When Amari’s mum Helen experienced contractions her husband decided to drive her to hospital. However, due to the treacherous snowstorm that was engulfing the state of Texas, the couple became stranded by the roadside in their SUV.

Brave mum Helen gave birth to their daughter in the backseat of the car. Tiny baby Amari was born weighing less than two pounds and could fit in her mother’s hand.

(Indiana Right to Life) Reannin had one option when she found out she was pregnant with her fifth baby.

Or so she thought.

“I was dead set on abortion,” she later said. “I thought, ‘Not gonna happen, nope, nope, nope.’ I had four kids already, this wasn’t planned. At first, it was just denial. ‘I’m not pregnant. I’m not doing this, not having this baby.’”

Seeking an abortion, she placed two calls: One to Planned Parenthood and one to Women’s Care Center. Planned Parenthood told her they’d see her “next week.” Women’s Care Center said, “We can see you right now.”

American Rescue Plan Act spends over $450 billion that can fund abortions

by Administrator

(FRC Blog) While the American Rescue Plan Act includes funding for testing, vaccines, and other health care equipment as well as economic relief for families like stimulus checks and an expansion of the Child Tax Credit, it comes at the expense of the lives of the unborn.

The American Rescue Plan Act lacks key abortion funding restrictions on over $459 billion, breaking decades of congressional precedent on restricting federal funding for abortion.

1. Funds that Can Directly Pay for Abortions (Up To $386.7 Billion):

  • $350 billion in funding for state and local governments with little to no guardrails against funding abortions.

Irish “Dying with Dignity” Bill legalizes euthanasia for people who are not terminally ill.

Irish “Dying with Dignity” Bill legalizes euthanasia for people who are not terminally ill.

Alex Schadenberg
Executive Director, Euthanasia Prevention Coalition

The Irish Dying with Dignity Bill (Bill 24 of 2020) bill is an example of how imprecise language enables a wider interpretation of a law. Bill 24 uses imprecise language making it appear to legalize assisted suicide for terminally ill people, but in fact the bill also legalizes euthanasia for people who are not terminally ill.

Euthanasia is when one person (usually a physician) directly and intentionally causes the death of another person, usually by lethal injection. Euthanasia is a form of homicide. Assisted suicide is when one person (usually a physician) provides the means (usually by prescription) to another person to assist them in their suicide.

Taylor Hyatt

Taylor Hyatt, a young woman with cerebral palsy tells Harding about a personal experience:

She recalls an occasion where acute breathing problems brought her to a hospital emergency room in Ottawa. When a doctor asked her if she wanted oxygen, she replied, “Of course I do.” The doctor then asked, “Are you sure?”

“I was floored,” Hyatt told The Epoch Times.

By John B. Kelly, the director of the disability rights group, Second Thoughts.

On January 14, Second Thoughts CT leader Cathy Ludlum joined WPLR host John Voket on his show “For the People” to explain why legalized assisted suicide is simply too dangerous to implement. The full transcript is here.

In the 15-minute segment (beginning at 37:20), Cathy meets Voket where he is, and agrees that on its surface, many people would think it’s “a good idea to put the choice of when and how one dies into the hands of the individual.”

Vote NO on Bill No. 6425, An Act Concerning Aid in Dying for Terminally Ill Patients

Dr Kenneth Stevens

Testimony of Dr. Kenneth R. Stevens, Jr., MD,
Professor Emeritus, Radiation Oncology, Oregon Health & Science University, Portland, OR

February 24, 2021

To Members of the Committee on Public Health,

I have been a cancer doctor in the practice of Radiation Oncology for 52 years in Oregon, treating cancer patients from 1969 to 2019.

I have studied and closely followed the implementation of Oregon’s assisted-suicide law since its passage in 1994. I have also continued to teach and practice medicine in a society where there exists such a law, taking note of its tragic results.

The Atlantic Boosts Assisted-Suicide Doctors, Pushes Euthanasia

The media love to boost assisted suicide. They laud people who commit it — witness their swoon over the late Brittany Maynard — and the doctors who are willing to lethally prescribe or give lethal injections.

Now, The Atlantic goes there bigly, describing the experiences of two California doctors who assist suicides. But I want to focus on one: Lonny Shavelson, whose excesses and assisted-suicide enthusiasms I have been writing about for years.

Shavelson was a part-time ER doc and photo journalist. Fascinated with assisted suicide, he wrote a journalistic book about the subject called A Chosen Death.

Portugal’s Constitutional Court rejects euthanasia law

Alex Schadenberg
Executive Director, Euthanasia Prevention Coalition

On March 15, Portugal’s Constitutional Court rejected the euthanasia bill that was passed by Portugal’s parliament on January 29.

On February 19, President Marcelo de Sousa decided not to sign the bill into law but to refer it to the Constitutional court for evaluation. President de Sousa was stated that the bill was: “excessively imprecise,” potentially creating a situation of “legal uncertainty.”

The Portuguese American Journal reported that the Constitutional court decided:

“the law is imprecise in identifying the circumstances under which those procedures can occur.” The court stated the law must be “clear, precise, clearly envisioned and controllable.”

Dr. Seuss Was Right: “A Person’s a Person No Matter How Small”

I should have known, but didn’t until last year, that March 2 is “Read Across America Day.” The date is no coincidence. It coincides with Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Theodor Seuss Geisel—“Dr. Seuss” —was born March 2, 1904.

According to various biographies, after graduating in 1925 from Dartmouth College, Geisel sought a doctorate in literature at Oxford University.

There his life took a dramatic shift when he met Helen Palmer, whom he wed in 1927. “Upon his return to America later that year, Geisel published cartoons and humorous articles for Judge, the leading humor magazine in America at that time.”

New York Legalizes Buying Babies and Selling Pregnancy in Commercial Surrogacy

New York Legalizes Buying Babies and Selling Pregnancy in Commercial Surrogacy

The controversial practice of commercial surrogacy – paying a woman to carry and give birth to a baby for different parents – is now legal in New York state.

The Federalist writer Auguste Meyrat said the new law treats children like commodities and exploits poor women while accommodating the lifestyles of the rich.

The law, sponsored by state Sen. Brad Hoylman, has been celebrated as a “model for other states.” It ensures that surrogate mothers receive legal representation and gives them the option to abort the unborn baby if they want to, according to the report.

“At its heart, surrogacy is not about accommodating life but accommodating lifestyles,” Meyrat said.

Montana Legislature Passes Three Pro-Life Bills Saving Babies From Abortions

Three major new pro-life bills have passed the Montana House and  Senate and soon will be on their way to the desk of pro-life Republican Gov. Greg Gianforte. A fourth proposal—two versions of a “Born-Alive” bill—is working its way through the legislative process.

NRL News Today has reported on the proposals on several occasions in detail. Among the four are three bills vetoed in 2020 by pro-abortion Gov. Steve Bullock (D) who was replaced by Gov. Gianforte.

The bills include the following:

*House Bill 136 would ban abortions performed on pain-capable unborn children who are 20 weeks gestation age. HB 136 passed the state House on a vote of 66-34 and the state  Senate  by 31-19.

The “Equality Act” Creates a Fictitious “Right” to Kill Babies in Abortions

The “Equality Act” Creates a Fictitious “Right” to Kill Babies in Abortions

The “Equality Act” not only threatens the free exercise of religion and free speech, but the bill will force health care providers and hospitals to perform, participate in, refer abortions and require taxpayer funding of abortion. It will also force faith-based pregnancy centers to promote abortion.

HR 5 amends many federal laws by striking the word “sex,” and inserting “sex, sexual orientation, gender identity.” In addition, the bill’s use of the words “pregnancy, childbirth, or a related medical condition” includes chemical and surgical abortions, and abortion referral.

Any time “sex” has been previously added to federal law, Congress exempted abortion. HR 5 now includes abortion.
